T-Mobile Boosts Satellite Coverage, Opens Doors for Apps

T-Mobile has broadened the functionality of its T-Satellite service, initially introduced earlier this year in the United States, to include support for a suite of third-party applications. The service, which leverages Starlink’s satellite network for connectivity, previously enabled messaging and location-sharing capabilities. The expansion now integrates support for prominent applications such as WhatsApp, AllTrails, OnX, AccuWeather, Google Maps, CalTopo, and X.
T-Mobile plans include T-Satellite service by default. Users on other networks can subscribe to the service for a monthly fee of $10. The supported applications are compatible with a broad range of recent Android and iOS devices, with ongoing efforts to extend compatibility to older models. T-Mobile has detailed specific application functionalities enabled by T-Satellite, including the ability to send messages, voice notes, and photos, as well as participate in group chats on WhatsApp. X users can now use the service to post text, photos, GIFs, and videos. Furthermore, the service is compatible with the native applications on select iPhone, Pixel, and Samsung phone models.
Currently, the new features are available on select iOS 26 and Android 16 devices. Comprehensive device compatibility details are available on T-Mobile’s FAQ page.
