OriginOS 6 Goes Global: Vivo’s New Features Now Available Worldwide!

vivo Announces Global Rollout of OriginOS 6
vivo recently unveiled its X300 series smartphones in China, providing a preliminary overview of the X300 and X300 Pro models. Accompanying this hardware announcement is a significant software development: the global launch of OriginOS 6.
Historically, vivo smartphones have operated on distinct operating systems depending on their target market. Devices intended for the Chinese market utilized OriginOS, while international models ran on FuntouchOS. The latter has been criticized for its dated aesthetics. The introduction of OriginOS 6 marks a convergence of these two software branches, streamlining the user experience across all future vivo models.
OriginOS 6 represents an evolution from the previous version, OriginOS 5, and a major shift from the FuntouchOS 15 interface. The X300 series will be the first to feature OriginOS 6 pre-installed. Early access to the new OS was granted on an international X200 Pro device.
vivo’s marketing materials emphasize that OriginOS 6 is designed to optimize device resources, potentially leading to improved performance. Key features include Ultra-Core computing, which is intended to allocate resources more efficiently, resulting in faster app loading and improved frame rate stability. Memory Fusion technology aims to accelerate data loading in resource-intensive situations, with the example of a 106% speed boost in opening a 5,000-image photo album. The OS also supports keeping up to 47 applications active in the background and a Dual Rendering Architecture, designed to improve animation rendering efficiency by up to 35% and frame rate stability by up to 11%.
Visual enhancements in OriginOS 6 are notable, including refinements to animations with effects such as bounciness and blur transitions. The responsiveness of the user interface has been enhanced, resulting in a more natural interaction with the device. Moreover, the update incorporates a claimed 41% increase in touch response speed compared to competitors. vivo promises a “smooth-as-new” experience for flagship models for a period of five years.
Additional features include enhancements to the user interface, such as the introduction of “Origin Island,” updated control center styling, improvements to the Private Space functionality, AI-powered image editing, and improved scrolling and translation capabilities.
