Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Midrange Chipset
Qualcomm has unveiled its latest midrange mobile platform, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 (model number SM6435-AA). This new chipset builds upon its predecessor, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, with enhancements to CPU and GPU performance, and expanded feature support. The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is fabricated using Samsung’s 4nm process technology.
Performance and Architecture
The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 boasts significant performance improvements. Qualcomm claims a 36% increase in CPU performance and a 59% increase in GPU performance compared to the previous generation. The Kryo CPU incorporates a heterogeneous architecture, comprising four performance cores clocked at up to 2.4 GHz and four efficiency cores operating at 1.8 GHz.
Graphics Capabilities and Display Support
The integrated GPU supports HDR gaming and is compatible with OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and Vulkan 1.1. It also incorporates features from the Snapdragon Elite Gaming suite, including Variable Rate Shading (VRS) and Game Quick Touch, to optimize the gaming experience. The chipset supports displays with a resolution of up to FHD+ and a refresh rate of 144Hz.
Connectivity and Camera Features
The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 offers comprehensive connectivity options, including mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G, as well as Wi-Fi 6E. It supports up to 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM at 3200MHz and UFS 3.1 storage. The integrated Qualcomm Spectra ISP supports camera sensors up to 200MP and 2K video recording at 30 frames per second. Additional features include Snapdragon Sound, Bluetooth 5.4, and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ support.
