Apple’s specifications indicate that the eSIM-only iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models are designed to provide up to two additional hours of video playback compared to their counterparts equipped with a physical SIM tray. A comprehensive battery life assessment was conducted to evaluate the performance differences across various usage scenarios.
The eSIM iPhone 17 Pro (A3256), equipped with a 4,252mAh battery, achieved an Active Use Score of 16:12 hours. This represents a 49-minute improvement over the Nano-SIM variant (A3523), which features a 3,998mAh battery.
Detailed testing revealed category-specific performance gains. The call test results indicated a 3% improvement, with the eSIM model achieving 24:01 hours of talk time. Notably, the web browsing test yielded the most significant enhancement, with the eSIM iPhone 17 Pro lasting 13:41 hours—over an hour longer than its Nano-SIM counterpart.
