Samsung’s New Leadership: TM Roh’s Rise to Greater Influence

Samsung Electronics has announced a significant restructuring of its executive leadership, appointing TM Roh as CEO of the Device eXperience (DX) Division. Mr. Roh will serve as co-CEO, joining Young Hyun Jun, Vice Chairman and Head of the Device Solutions (DS) Division, in this capacity. Concurrent with his expanded role, Mr. Roh will retain his position as head of the Mobile eXperience (MX) business. Vice Chairman Jun will continue to lead the Memory business.

This expansion of Mr. Roh’s responsibilities indicates the company’s confidence in his performance within the MX business unit over the preceding years, signifying a strategic move to leverage his expertise across a broader scope of operations.

Furthermore, Samsung has appointed Janghyun Yoon as President, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the DX Division, and Head of Samsung Research. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Yoon held the position of CEO at Samsung Venture Investment. His previous experience includes responsibility for software platforms, Internet of Things (IoT), and Tizen development within the MX business. Hongkun Park has been named head of the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. Professor Park, currently affiliated with Harvard University, is recognized for his research in the domains of nanoscience, quantum science, and engineering.
