Huawei Unveils Mate 80 Series and Mate X7 Devices Featuring New Kirin 9030 Chipsets

Huawei has launched its Mate 80 series smartphones and the Mate X7 foldable device, all of which are powered by the newly developed Kirin 9030 series chipsets. Notably, the Kirin 9030 series encompasses two distinct versions. A standard Kirin 9030 chipset is utilized in the base Mate 80 model and select configurations of the Mate 80 Pro. The enhanced Kirin 9030 Pro variant is exclusive to the Mate 80 Pro (16GB/512GB), Mate 80 Pro Max, Mate 80 RS Ultimate, and the Mate X7.

Official specifications for the new Kirin 9030 chipsets have not been fully disclosed by Huawei. However, leaked information from user posts on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, including screenshots, provides preliminary insights into hardware distinctions between the two variants.

The Kirin 9030 Pro, according to the available data, is configured with a 9-core CPU architecture supporting 14 threads. The prime cores are clocked at 2.75 GHz, performance cores at 2.27 GHz, and efficiency cores at 1.72 GHz.

The standard Kirin 9030 also incorporates a 9-core CPU but with 12 threads. The clock speeds for the Kirin 9030 are identical to those of the Kirin 9030 Pro. Both chipsets share the same ARMv8 CPU cores and the Maleoon 935 GPU.

Industry speculation suggests that the Kirin 9030 series is manufactured using SMIC’s N+3 node (6nm) process, consistent with the fabrication process utilized for the Kirin 9100 found in the Mate 70 series. Further details and official specifications from Huawei are anticipated in the near future.
