One UI 8.5: Battery Boost, DeX, and AI Enhancements Leak.

Samsung is reportedly preparing to release One UI 8.5, and a preliminary changelog has surfaced, providing insights into the upcoming features. While the development process has encountered challenges, the anticipated update promises several enhancements across various functionalities.

One UI 8.5 will introduce significant improvements to DeX, including the ability to remember the size and position of application windows for a more seamless user experience. The battery management system will be augmented with a detailed information screen, displaying remaining battery time, charging status, and daily usage reports from the past week. Furthermore, the Power Saving mode will offer a choice between Standard and Maximum saving levels.

Data sharing capabilities will be refined. Quick Share will incorporate a receive-only mode, restricting file transfers to devices signed into the user’s Samsung or Google account. Conversely, Quick Share will utilize facial recognition to suggest sharing photos with individuals identified within them.

Cross-device integration will be expanded with storage sharing features, enabling access to files on Samsung tablets and PCs directly from a Samsung phone, and vice versa. Users will also be able to view files from their phone on their Samsung TV.

Additional Auracast features are planned, including the functionality to broadcast audio to compatible headsets and speakers.

Artificial intelligence capabilities within One UI 8.5 will be enhanced. Bixby will receive upgrades to improve its ability to adjust settings, access features, and provide more comprehensive answers to user queries, including a conversation history. The Galaxy AI Photo Assist editor will be improved, offering non-destructive editing workflows.

The leaked changelog indicates that One UI 8.5 will include additional features, such as expanded customization options, enhanced theft-protection measures, and various improvements to Samsung Health.

One UI 8.5 is projected to launch with the Galaxy S26 series in late January. Subsequently, it will be rolled out as an update to compatible devices within the Galaxy S, Z, A, and other series, although the exact timeline for these updates is currently unconfirmed.
