ChatGPT: Global Group Chats Now Available, Revolutionizing User Collaboration.

OpenAI has initiated a global rollout of group chat functionality for ChatGPT users, following a successful pilot program. The feature, initially tested in Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand, and South Korea, is now accessible to all logged-in users across ChatGPT’s Free, Go, Plus, and Pro subscription tiers.
The company announced the wider release via a blog post, stating, “Early feedback from the pilot has been positive, so we’re expanding group chats to all logged-in users on ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans globally over the coming days. We will continue refining the experience as more people start using it.“

The group chat feature allows for up to 20 participants and leverages the ChatGPT 5.1 Auto model. This model intelligently selects the optimal response model based on the user’s prompt and the available models accessible to the user. A notable aspect of the implementation is that rate limits are only enforced when ChatGPT provides a response; user-to-user communication within the group is not subject to these limits.
Further details regarding the ChatGPT group chat functionality can be found in our comprehensive coverage of the announcement.
