Recent reports suggest a potential shift in Samsung’s flagship smartphone lineup for 2026. Initially, it was speculated that the Galaxy S26 Plus model would be discontinued, with the Galaxy S26 Edge positioned as its replacement. This model was to be launched alongside the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Pro.
However, a new report originating from South Korea indicates a possible reconsideration of this strategy. The rationale behind this shift is reportedly linked to the observed performance of the currently available Galaxy S25 Edge, which has exhibited underwhelming sales figures.
Based on information from multiple industry sources within South Korea, Samsung anticipates that the Galaxy S26 Edge may face similar sales challenges. Consequently, the company has reportedly initiated development of the Galaxy S26 Plus.
Production figures for the Galaxy S25 Edge have reportedly declined significantly since its launch in June. This trend is concerning, as the initial three months following a smartphone’s release typically represent the period of highest sales volume. Furthermore, Samsung’s internal production forecasts indicate that the Galaxy S25 Plus model is currently outperforming the S25 Edge in terms of sales. Consequently, if Samsung proceeds with the replacement of the Galaxy S26 Plus with the Galaxy S26 Edge, a potential revenue loss could be incurred, particularly considering the Edge model’s higher price point.
