Google has announced the launch of Nano Banana Pro, an enhanced image generation and editing feature, building upon the capabilities of the original Nano Banana. This upgrade leverages the recently unveiled Gemini 3 Pro model.
According to Google, Nano Banana Pro is designed to facilitate the visualization and design of diverse content, including prototypes, infographics, and the transformation of handwritten notes into digital diagrams. Its functionality extends to generating educational explainers and context-rich visuals based on user-provided content and real-world information. Integration with Google Search allows for the creation of visual representations of real-time data, such as weather updates or sports scores.
Key enhancements in Nano Banana Pro include improved accuracy, enhanced reasoning capabilities, and access to a broader range of world knowledge and real-time data. This allows for the generation of images with correctly rendered and legible text, supporting a wider array of textures, fonts, and calligraphy. Gemini’s multilingual capabilities are integrated, enabling text generation and content localization in multiple languages.
Nano Banana Pro offers advanced compositing features, permitting the blending of up to 14 images while maintaining consistency and resemblance across up to five individuals. Localized editing tools provide granular control over image manipulation, allowing for adjustments to camera angles, focus, and sophisticated color grading, as well as scene lighting transformations. Users can generate images in “2K” and 4K resolutions and utilize a variety of aspect ratios.
The global rollout of Nano Banana Pro is currently underway within the Gemini app, accessible by selecting “Create images” in the “Thinking” model. Free users will have access to limited quotas, after which the system will revert to the original Nano Banana features. Subscribers to Google AI Plus, Pro, or Ultra will benefit from elevated quotas. In the United States, Nano Banana Pro is available for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers within AI Mode in Google Search. Furthermore, it is available globally within NotebookLM for subscribers.
