HMD’s New Line: 100, 101, and 102 – 4G? Nope!
HMD Global Announces New Entry-Level Mobile Phone Trio
HMD Global has introduced a new series of basic mobile phones, comprised of the HMD 100, 101, and 102 models. These devices feature a redesigned aesthetic compared to the previously released HMD 102 4G and HMD 101 4G models, originally announced in September.

The HMD 102 represents the most feature-rich device within the new lineup, incorporating an MP3 player and a camera equipped with an LED flash. The HMD 101 model omits the camera functionality, while the HMD 100 appears to lack the MP3 player as well, potentially indicating the absence of a microSD card slot. This would limit storage capacity due to the devices’ likely minimal internal storage.
Notably, the product announcements make no specific mention of “4G” connectivity. This absence is significant, as 4G support is a crucial feature, particularly with the ongoing phasing out of 2G and 3G networks in numerous regions. Furthermore, the use of microUSB ports across these models presents a compatibility issue, as the European Union now mandates USB-C ports for portable electronic devices.

For users prioritizing 4G connectivity, the HMD 105 4G and HMD 110 4G models remain available.
