Google’s AI: Shop, Call, & Buy – All Done For You.

Google has unveiled a series of new features leveraging advanced Artificial Intelligence capabilities, representing significant advancements in search and shopping experiences.
One notable development is the integration of agentic AI within Google Search, enabling automated interactions with retailers. When searching for specific products within the platform, users may encounter a “Let Google call” option. Initiating this feature prompts the AI to contact nearby stores on the user’s behalf to ascertain product availability, pricing, and potential promotional offers. The results are then delivered to the user via email or text, supplemented with inventory information from other local retailers. This functionality is initially available for product categories including toys, health and beauty, and electronics, and is currently rolling out in the United States.
Further enhancing the shopping experience, Google’s agentic AI now facilitates automated checkout processes. Users monitoring product prices within Google Search can specify desired item characteristics such as size, color, and budget. Upon the price reaching the predetermined threshold, a notification is issued. Subsequently, users can authorize Google to complete the purchase utilizing Google Pay. This “agentic checkout” feature is subject to user consent and is currently available with eligible merchants within the US, including implementation within AI Mode.
AI Mode within Google Search has also been updated, providing a more intuitive and comprehensive search experience. Users can now articulate their search queries in a conversational manner. The AI mode then generates a response incorporating visually rich data, including pricing, reviews, and inventory details, all formatted to address the specific user’s requirements.
Finally, shopping features have been integrated into the Gemini application in the US. Within Gemini, users can access curated holiday shopping ideas, including shoppable product listings, comparative tables, price comparisons across the web, and direct purchase options.
