Huawei Mate X7: Foldable, Rugged, Powerful, and Ready to Impress.

Huawei Unveils the Mate X7: Enhanced Foldable Smartphone with Key Upgrades

Huawei has launched the Mate X7, the latest iteration of its foldable smartphone series. This model incorporates several significant improvements over its predecessor, targeting enhanced durability, performance, and user experience.

The Mate X7 boasts updated ingress protection, now rated IP58 and IP59, indicating enhanced dust resistance and protection against water exposure, including splashes and high-pressure water jets. Physical dimensions have been refined, with the folded device measuring 9.5mm in thickness and unfolding to 4.5mm. Despite these reductions, the device maintains its aluminum frame and weighs 235 grams, a marginal reduction from the previous generation.

The device features an updated display configuration, integrating a 6.49-inch cover screen with a 20.4:9 aspect ratio and an 8-inch main screen with an 8:7.3 ratio. Both displays are LTPO OLED panels with a variable refresh rate of 1-120Hz and 1,440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, optimizing both visual fluidity and power efficiency.

A key enhancement is the inclusion of the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset. While detailed specifications are pending, the processor reportedly utilizes a nine-core ARMv8 architecture, with a prime core clocked at 2.75GHz, four performance cores at 2.27GHz, and four efficiency cores at 1.72GHz. This chipset is paired with options of 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and storage configurations up to 1TB.

The camera system retains a 50MP main camera with an RYYB sensor, a 10-stop physical variable aperture (f/1.4-4.0), and OIS. The telephoto sensor is upgraded to a 50MP module with a wider f/2.2 aperture and 3.5x optical zoom. The rear camera array is completed by a 40MP ultrawide lens. Two 8MP selfie cameras, one on the cover screen and one on the inner screen, complete the photographic setup.

Powering the Mate X7 is a dual-cell Si-C battery with a combined capacity of 5,600mAh. The device supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The Mate X7 will ship with HarmonyOS 6 in China and incorporates satellite connectivity.

The Huawei Mate X7 will be available in Black, White, Purple, and Red color options. Pricing in China begins at CNY 12,999 (approximately $1,830 USD) for the 12GB/256GB configuration. The 12GB/512GB model will retail for CNY 13,999 (approximately $1,970 USD), the 16GB/512GB Collector’s Edition is priced at CNY 14,999 (approximately $2,111 USD), and the flagship 20GB/1TB version will be available for CNY 17,999 (approximately $2,534 USD). Open sales in China are scheduled to commence on December 5.
