iPad Pro (2025) Teardown: Brutally Hard to Open Up, Apparently!

Following the recent introduction of the M4-powered iPad Pro, the 13-inch model has undergone a comprehensive teardown analysis conducted by iFixit. This analysis offers insights into the device’s internal architecture and assesses its repairability. The 13-inch iPad Pro, distinguished by its minimal 5.1mm thickness, presents unique challenges in terms of component accessibility and repair.

The device’s slim profile necessitates a highly compact design, with components tightly integrated. Access for repairs is predominantly restricted to the screen, which is flush against the internal components, complicating the disassembly process.

Apple has provided repair manuals and replacement parts. Following the initial screen removal, which carries the risk of damage, the internal components become more accessible.

Battery removal involves ten pull tabs. The USB-C port is designed for easy access and replacement. The logic board, however, requires the removal of numerous screws. The camera modules are subsequently accessible. The internal screws predominantly employ the JIS standard, although not exclusively.

The 13-inch iPad Pro (2025) receives a repairability score of 5 out of 10. The principal obstacle to repair is the necessity of screen removal for battery access, a procedure that potentially jeopardizes the screen’s integrity. Once the screen is removed, the remaining components demonstrate relative ease of replacement.
