Samsung and Turkish Airlines Announce Partnership for Enhanced Baggage Tracking with SmartThings Find
Samsung and Turkish Airlines have jointly announced the implementation of the Smart Tagged Baggage Service, leveraging Samsung’s SmartThings Find location-tracking service to enhance baggage management for airline passengers. This collaboration aims to provide a more efficient and transparent process for locating lost or delayed luggage.
The Smart Tagged Baggage Service enables Turkish Airlines passengers to monitor the status of their luggage using Samsung’s SmartThings Find platform. The system involves the utilization of Galaxy SmartTags, which are placed within the passenger’s luggage. In the event of lost or delayed baggage, passengers can provide Turkish Airlines with a secure link containing location data, facilitating retrieval efforts.
Furthermore, the SmartThings Find application features a “Change Device Image” function, allowing users to upload a photograph of their luggage to the application. This feature enhances visual identification of the luggage, streamlining the identification process for airline personnel.
SmartThings Find employs Bluetooth Low Energy and ultra-wideband technology, leveraging a network of over 700 million Galaxy devices to facilitate location tracking. Samsung intends to expand the Smart Tagged Baggage Service through collaborations with additional airlines, further extending the reach and utility of this technology.
