iPhone Air 2: Release Pushed Back, Fans Await Disappointment.

According to recent reports, Apple has adjusted its product launch timeline, impacting the anticipated release of the iPhone Air 2. Initially, it was projected that the iPhone Air 2 would debut in September 2026, alongside the iPhone Fold, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e were slated for a spring 2027 release.

However, a report published today by The Information indicates a delay in the launch of the iPhone Air 2. This decision is reportedly influenced by lower-than-expected sales performance of the initial iPhone Air model, leading Apple to reduce orders from its component suppliers.

iPhone Air 2 is reportedly delayed

Production of the iPhone Air by Foxconn is scheduled to cease at the end of this month, following Luxshare’s cessation of production in October. This development underscores Apple’s ongoing challenge in identifying a fourth iPhone variant that garners substantial consumer interest alongside its standard, Pro, and Pro Max models.

The iPhone Fold may fulfill this role in the coming year. The iPhone Air, however, appears to have faced similar market challenges as previous attempts to introduce alternative form factors, including the mini and Plus models.

Should the iPhone Air 2 not be entirely discontinued, it is now anticipated to launch concurrently with the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e in the spring of 2027. Rumors surrounding the device suggest the incorporation of a dual-camera system on the rear, a feature considered missing from the original Air model.
