OnePlus has unveiled OxygenOS 16, its latest software iteration based on Android 16. This release emphasizes advancements in artificial intelligence, enhanced system fluidity, improved cross-platform connectivity, and expanded customization options.

OxygenOS 16 builds upon the AI functionalities introduced in OxygenOS 15, incorporating significant improvements and new features. Mind Space has been updated to integrate with Google Gemini, enabling users to search for content within the application and generate itineraries. Enhanced voice note functionality and smart collection creation are also integrated within Mind Space.

A key addition is the AI Writer feature, designed to assist with text creation based on user prompts, and to proofread and modify existing text across various applications. AI Recorder offers automatic transcription capabilities during recording sessions, including speaker identification. Furthermore, the Gallery app now features AI-driven enhancements to portrait shots, enabling adjustments to facial lighting and correction of expressions and closed eyes utilizing previous photo data.

Beyond AI, OxygenOS 16 introduces refinements to the user interface’s fluidity. The Parallel Processing feature, introduced in OxygenOS 15, is now more widely implemented, leading to a smoother and more responsive user experience. The lock screen receives additional customization options, featuring new clock views, widgets, and support for live photos and videos. The home screen now supports customizable icon sizes with expanded functionality for quicker access to applications and features.

OnePlus is also enhancing its cross-platform connectivity capabilities. Users will benefit from improved sharing between phones and tablets, as well as the ability to access data from Mac and PC platforms. Moreover, OxygenOS 16 will integrate support for Apple Watch, allowing users to access notifications, messages, and calls directly from their Apple devices.

For OnePlus tablet users, OxygenOS 16 brings improvements to multitasking capabilities, along with consistent home and lock screen customization experiences mirroring those available on OnePlus smartphones.

OnePlus is currently offering a beta program for OxygenOS 16, allowing users to test the software prior to the official release.
