President Pezeshkian Urges Supreme National Security Council to Lift Internet Restrictions Immediately

Masoud Pezeshkian has called on the Supreme National Security Council to remove internet restrictions as quickly as possible to support the digital economy.
According to a report by Shargh, during the Cabinet meeting, the President referenced a recent session held with key stakeholders in the digital economy sector. Addressing the urgent need to restore connectivity, President Pezeshkian stated:
“Given the necessity of facilitating operations for internet-based businesses and reducing communication restrictions, I have advised Mr. Larijani [Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council] to ensure that internet restrictions are lifted as soon as possible.”
Gradual Restoration of Services
The process of easing communication restrictions began on Friday night with the reactivation of SMS services. This was followed shortly thereafter by the restoration of messaging capabilities on domestic platforms.
In a continuation of this trend, access to the Google search engine was restored this afternoon, preceding the broader reconnection of the internet. This specific measure was likely prioritized because the experience of using Iranian domestic search engines during the blackout period proved largely unsuccessful.
Timeline for Full Reconnection
Recent reports suggest that international internet restrictions may be fully lifted by Tuesday. Following President Pezeshkian’s explicit remarks in the Cabinet, observers are now waiting to see exactly when full access to the global network will be restored.
