Huawei Launches Mate 70 Air: A New Addition to the Slim and Light Premium Smartphone Category
Huawei has officially released the Mate 70 Air in China, introducing a new device to the market that emphasizes slim and lightweight design. This model joins the growing “Air” trend in premium smartphones, focusing on a balance of aesthetics and functionality.
The Mate 70 Air features a substantial 7-inch display within a 6.6mm body. The AMOLED screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2760 x 1320 pixels. Despite its slim profile, the device incorporates a 6,500mAh battery supporting 66W wired charging. Its weight is 208g, and it maintains an IP68/IP69 rating for water and dust resistance.
Performance is delivered via two processor configurations, determined by RAM capacity. The 12GB RAM variant is equipped with the Kirin 9020A System-on-Chip (SoC), while the 16GB RAM model utilizes the Kirin 9020B chipset.
The rear camera system comprises a 50MP primary wide lens with an f/1.8 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 12MP RYYB telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom and OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 1.5MP color sensor. A 10.7MP front-facing camera is provided for selfies and video calls.
The Mate 70 Air operates on HarmonyOS 5.1 and integrates various artificial intelligence (AI) features. Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 7 compatibility, Bluetooth 5.2 with Low Energy (LE) support, Hi-Res audio, Beidou satellite communication, Near Field Communication (NFC), and reverse wired charging at 5W.
The Huawei Mate 70 Air is available in Gold and Silver Brocade, White Feather Robe, and Obsidian Black color options. The device is currently available for purchase in China through the official Huawei online store.
