Samsung’s Future: More Foldables! New Book-Style Phone Coming.

Samsung is reportedly developing two book-style foldable smartphones for potential release next year, according to industry speculation based on model number assignments. The company is currently working on a device with model number SM-F971, codenamed H8. This is distinct from the previously reported Galaxy Z Fold8, which carries the model number SM-F976 and the codename Q8. The “F9” in these model numbers unequivocally places them within the Galaxy Z Fold series, as Flip-style foldable devices are identified with model numbers commencing with “F7”.
Further analysis of Samsung’s model number scheme supports the possibility of an additional book-style foldable. The Galaxy Z Flip FE, for example, is designated as SM-F761. Utilizing this pattern, a prospective Galaxy Z Flip FE 2 would likely be assigned the model number SM-F771, as Samsung typically increments the middle digit annually. By analogy, the SM-F971 could represent a Galaxy Z Fold FE, reflecting the similar numbering convention, but using “9” to denote the book-style form factor.
Alternative sources suggest that the SM-F971 could represent a new form factor within the book-style foldable category. This potential design would feature an 18:9 aspect ratio for the cover display and a square internal folding screen. This configuration is speculated to be a competitive response to the anticipated foldable iPhone, also slated for release next year, which is expected to feature a wider cover display than the existing Galaxy Z Fold series.
It is crucial to emphasize that these details are based on preliminary information and speculation. Further developments in the coming months are anticipated to provide more definitive insights into Samsung’s forthcoming foldable devices.
