Samsung to Discontinue Galaxy S Edge Line Following Weak Sales of S25 Edge
Multiple reports indicate that Samsung will discontinue its Galaxy S Edge series following disappointing sales figures for the Galaxy S25 Edge. The cancellation of the Galaxy S26 Edge, originally planned as the successor, is attributed to the underperformance of its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Edge.
According to a report from South Korean publication NewsPim, the company is expected to phase out the Edge series entirely once existing S25 Edge inventory is depleted. An anonymous Samsung official was quoted as stating that the “slim line (i.e. Edge line) will ever return, but as of now, it seems unlikely. It’s practically gone.”
Despite the uncertain future of the Edge line, development of the Galaxy S26 Edge is reportedly complete. However, its launch is not anticipated within the Edge series framework.
The decision follows earlier reports confirming the S25 Edge’s underwhelming sales performance. Data from Hana Investment & Securities indicates that the S25 Edge shipped 1.31 million units as of August. These figures are significantly lower than those of other Galaxy S25 models, including the S25 (8.28 million units), S25+ (5.05 million units), and S25 Ultra (12.18 million units).
Industry observers anticipate that Samsung will instead release three Galaxy S26 models in January: the Galaxy S26 Pro, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra.
