Xiaomi Unveils New 15T Series Smartphones: Preliminary Analysis
Xiaomi recently announced the release of its 15T series smartphones, introducing significant upgrades over the previous 14T models. This overview provides a preliminary assessment of the key features and enhancements.
Both the Xiaomi 15T and 15T Pro feature larger displays, measuring 6.83 inches, an increase from the 6.67-inch screens of the 14T series. These panels are 12-bit OLED displays. The 15T Pro maintains a 144Hz refresh rate, while the standard 15T model offers a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Xiaomi 15T is equipped with the Dimensity 8400 Ultra chipset, succeeding the 8300 Ultra found in the 14T. It also features faster UFS 4.1 storage, a significant improvement over UFS 4.0, and a larger 5,500mAh battery, representing an increase of 500mAh. Charging remains wired-only, supporting 67W. The camera system is largely unchanged from its predecessor.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro boasts the Dimensity 9400+ chipset, an upgrade from the 9300+ in the prior model. It also incorporates a 5,500mAh battery. Charging capabilities include 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, a minor decrease compared to the 14T Pro’s 120W/50W configuration. Notably, the 15T Pro features a redesigned camera system. The main camera maintains a 50MP 1/1.31″ sensor, complemented by a new 50MP 5x/115mm periscope lens. This offers a wider zoom range compared to the 2.6x/60mm telephoto lens found on the 14T, allowing for more versatile imaging capabilities. The main sensor already provides 2x zoom.
The 15T Pro is positioned with a price increase of €150/£100 compared to the standard 15T. A more in-depth analysis, including detailed reviews of the Xiaomi 15T and 15T Pro, is forthcoming. The primary distinguishing factors between the two models include the performance of the chipset, the speed of charging, and the capabilities of the camera system.
